 Dean of Clinical Sciences

Welcome to the Faculty of Clinical Sciences at Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences—a center of excellence dedicated to training and developing highly skilled healthcare professionals. Our faculty is committed to offering world-class education and training that prepares students to meet the healthcare needs of Malawi and beyond.

About the Faculty

The Faculty of Clinical Sciences provides a dynamic and comprehensive learning environment for students pursuing careers in healthcare. We offer specialized programs in Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, and other allied health disciplines, all designed to ensure that our graduates are well-prepared for the challenges and demands of modern healthcare.

Our teaching approach combines rigorous academic theory with hands-on clinical experience. We believe in equipping students not just with knowledge, but also the practical skills needed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and communities.

Our Programs

  1. Diploma in Pharmacy
This program, accredited by the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA), equips students with essential knowledge in pharmacology, drug management, patient care, and pharmaceutical practice. Graduates of this program contribute significantly to healthcare by ensuring the safe use and distribution of medications in government and CHAM health facilities.
  2. Certificate in Pharmacy
The Certificate in Pharmacy provides foundational training in pharmaceutical practice and prepares students to assist in medication management, distribution, and patient counseling. This program is critical in meeting the increasing demand for pharmacy assistants in Malawi’s healthcare sector.
  3. Diploma in Clinical Medicine
The Diploma in Clinical Medicine at Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences is an intensive, hands-on program that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to provide clinical care under the supervision of medical doctors. Clinical officers are integral members of the healthcare team, offering essential healthcare services, performing medical procedures, diagnosing illnesses, and managing patient care. Our curriculum is structured to combine theoretical learning with extensive practical training, ensuring that graduates are fully prepared to serve in diverse healthcare environments. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to register as Clinical Officers with the Medical Council of Malawi and make a tangible impact on the health and well-being of communities across Malawi.
