The college receives adequate support from all its governance structures starting from the Synod Secretariat to the Board of Governors.
Developed a new campus
The college has developed a beautiful new campus outside Ekwendeni Mission Hospital where there are students’ hostels, administration offices, library, cafeteria, skills laboratory and classrooms.

Increased capacity of the college
Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences is one of the fast-growing institutions in terms of infrastructure and capacity. In 2005, the college had a total capacity of 100 students, which drastically increased to over 160 in 2009 and 248 in 2013 while in 2020 we have more than 600 students on campus.
Diverse health training programmes
The college offers six training programmes and students are graduating with a diploma in Nursing and Midwifery Technician (NMT), Diploma in Clinical Medicine (DCM), Diploma in Registered Nursing (RN Dip), Certificate in Community Midwifery (CMA) and Certificate in Pharmacy (CPhA). These qualifications enable graduates to be registered with their respective professional bodies like Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi (NMCM), Medical Council of Malawi and Pharmacy Medicines and Poisons Board (PMPB).
High staff and student morale
The college has great passion over its staff and students and seriously considers their welfare all the time. This has led to reduced staff turn over for the past five years.
Increased performance in NMCM examinations
The college has registered more than 95% pass rate in Nurses Council licensure examinations for the past three years.
